Hmmmm， not sure what to make of this - clearly interesting enough for me to have read it all and yet I don’t feel I’ve learnt much。 It’s not the type of book I’d usually read & neither do I follow the royals in the tabloids or on social media。 I think my only conclusion is that the very worthy Megan was ousted because she is political & British royalty is not allowed to be political。 A massive shame as she could have been such a boon to the monarchy。

Balanced Summary of All Things WindsorRobert Lacey gives an energetic account of the public relationship between the brothers; beginning with the marriage of Charles and Diana， their lives and divorce， her death， and the subsequent public lives of the boys until now。 He even gives a good bit of background on the families of the princesses。 I read this after reading Omid Scobie's new book Finding Freedom。 Where his book was also informative and clean reporting like this （as opposed to the yellow Balanced Summary of All Things WindsorRobert Lacey gives an energetic account of the public relationship between the brothers; beginning with the marriage of Charles and Diana， their lives and divorce， her death， and the subsequent public lives of the boys until now。 He even gives a good bit of background on the families of the princesses。 I read this after reading Omid Scobie's new book Finding Freedom。 Where his book was also informative and clean reporting like this （as opposed to the yellow journalism of the tabloids，） this book goes above and beyond， giving more detail， and being more open with the facts。 Lacey looks honestly at all sides of the issues。 The book is fast moving and keeps your interest throughout。 If you're only reading one of these books， I would suggest that this one is the better of the two for both of the reasons mentioned。 It is a thorough account and it is intriguing reading。 I enjoyed the Audible format narrated by Tim Frances。 。。。more

The subtitle of this book is WILLIAM & HARRY THE INSIDE STORY OF A FAMILY IN TUMULT。 One of the surefire subjects to sell books and newspapers are stories about the royal family。 Even in countries that are not connected to the monarchy in the same manner， anything to do with the Queen and royal family is sure to pique the interest of outsiders。 That is why there is a long history of royal scandals resonating for decades。 The book BATTLE OF BROTHERS has the same sort of juicy gossip and the like The subtitle of this book is WILLIAM & HARRY THE INSIDE STORY OF A FAMILY IN TUMULT。 One of the surefire subjects to sell books and newspapers are stories about the royal family。 Even in countries that are not connected to the monarchy in the same manner， anything to do with the Queen and royal family is sure to pique the interest of outsiders。 That is why there is a long history of royal scandals resonating for decades。 The book BATTLE OF BROTHERS has the same sort of juicy gossip and the like that a scandal-loving public eats up like morning breakfast。 Of course the story of Princess Diana is noted in the book， and how that sort of scandal helped cause a rift within the monarchy when Diana drew away from Prince Charles and charted her own course with other men。 The children Harry and William， were sort shielded from the actual stories revolving around Charles and Diana， where a once fairy-tale marriage went downhill and what was thought to be heading for a happy ending turning into nightmarish quality。 Author of the book Robert Lacey， is a noted British historian and is a consultant to the popular series The Crown。 There is little question he does have the inside track to the Royals， covering various aspects of them all， from the trivial to the significant。 This of course was written before the recent death of Prince Philip in April， where William and Harry did come together if only for the funeral。 The book discusses their lives often held up to a microscope， where Harry was more apt to do foolish things involving the infamous Swastika issue and also a bout of nudity among other occurrences。 He goes into detail about the Kate and William union， though for some time it was almost as if they were not destined to be。 When Harry and Meghan met， all eyes were on how the royals especially the Queen would react as Meghan was not royalty and was biracial。 Controversy followed them， especially when Harry basically cut ties with royalty and financial gains that went along with it， living in America with his wife。 The author says the Queen mishandled the issue， when news of Harry and Meghan’s union seemed imminent and bias and racism did follow them through the media and even within the royal family。 Those who enjoy such books will enjoy the detail that author went into， offering a book fit for a king or queen or mere commoners。 。。。more

CaptivatingEnjoyed the read。 Much of the read is public knowledge however some interesting new details shared。 The author did great job with the characterization of the royals and bringing to life their love and feelings for each other in the moment。

I saw this at the library after having watched the interview that Harry and Meghan gave to Oprah Winfrey and thought it might give me more background and insight。 This was very disappointing。 The author seemed intent on blaming everyone in turn: Charles for marrying Diana when he wasn't in love with her， Diana for going public with her issues without considering how the publicity would affect her sons， William for inviting Harry to carouse with his （William's） older friends and not taking any re I saw this at the library after having watched the interview that Harry and Meghan gave to Oprah Winfrey and thought it might give me more background and insight。 This was very disappointing。 The author seemed intent on blaming everyone in turn: Charles for marrying Diana when he wasn't in love with her， Diana for going public with her issues without considering how the publicity would affect her sons， William for inviting Harry to carouse with his （William's） older friends and not taking any responsibility when the press attacked Harry for drug use and wearing a Nazi outfit as a costume， Kate and her family as social climbers，Meghan for wanting to "change the world" instead of "do good in the world"Harry for not educating Meghan on how royals should behave and for supporting Meghan in her disputes with the Palace，Queen Elizabeth for not clamping down on the problems sooner，various staff people （both at the Palace and employed by the different royals） for either not noticing problems or for putting advocacy of their employers ahead of solving the problems。。。The tone was quite gossipy， lots of things that the author mentioned and then would say "oops， I wasn't supposed to talk about that yet。"While he did mention one egregious racist cartoon in the British press （the baby as a monkey）， he didn't address some of the other racist incidents or news stories that were mentioned in the U。S。 media around the time of the Oprah interview （Kate being praised for eating avocados as healthy during pregnancy but Meghan being attacked for eating avocados as linked to drought and human rights abuses， Meghan being attacked for the flowers in her wedding bouquet but Kate used the same flowers without an issue）。 。。。more
